Registration for the 14th S. -T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest in 2023 Begins
Release time:2023-02-15
The online registration for the 14th S. -T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest (the Contest) officially opened on February 15. The registration deadline is April 15. The written examination will be held on May 6-7 at 20 exam centers nationwide, and the national finals will take place at Tsinghua University on June 10-11.
The S. -T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest is open to undergraduate students from universities in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. It includes individual competition and team competition, focusing on assessing students’ fundamental knowledge and skills in mathematics at the undergraduate level. Since its inception in 2010, the Contest has been successfully held for 13 consecutive years, playing a significant role in cultivating mathematical talents in China and becoming an authoritative benchmark for evaluating undergraduates’ mathematical proficiency.
Registration
1. Individual Competition: Divided into six subjects: Geometry and Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Probability and Statistics, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Analysis and Differential Equations, and Mathematical Physics. Participants can register for multiple subjects (1-6).
2. Team Competition: Teams consist of five students from the same university, competing in Geometry and Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Probability and Statistics, Applied and Computational Mathematics, and Analysis and Differential Equations. Teams may optionally add one more member for Mathematical Physics. Each subject is assigned to one team member, and each member can only represent the team in one subject. Students registering for the team events must first register for the corresponding individual single events. The team score is based on the sum of the standardized scores of the top five subjects from the individual written examination.
