Registration for the 15th S. -T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest in 2024 Opens

Release time:2024-02-28

The online registration for the 15th S. -T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest has officially started on February 28th. The deadline for registration is April 15th. The written examination will be held on May 4th and 5th at more than 20 exam centers across China, and the national finals will take place at Tsinghua University on June 8th and 9th.

The S. -T. Yau College Student Mathematics Contest (the Contest) is open to undergraduate students from universities in Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. It includes individual competition and team competition, focusing on assessing students' fundamental knowledge and skills in mathematics during their undergraduate studies. Since its inception in 2010, the Contest has been held successfully for fourteen consecutive years, playing a significant role in cultivating mathematical talents in China and becoming an authoritative benchmark for evaluating the mathematical proficiency of undergraduates.

Registration

1. Individual competition: Divided into six subjects: Geometry and Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Probability and Statistics, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Analysis and Differential Equations, and Mathematical Physics. Participants can register for multiple subjects (1-6).

2. Team competition: Teams consist of six students from the same university, competing in the six subjects: Geometry and Topology, Algebra and Number Theory, Probability and Statistics, Applied and Computational Mathematics, Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, and Mathematical Physics. Each team member is responsible for one subject, and each member can only represent the team in one subject. Students registering for the team competition must first register for the corresponding individual competition. During the semi-final written examination, the team score is the sum of the individual scores of the six team members in their respective subjects. In the final interview stage, a separate test paper will be provided for the team competition.
